Online rumours of security lockdown across Singapore 'completely false': Police

Police alert on false "lockdown" message circulating on Whatsapp
By Lee Min Kok, The Straits Times, 18 Nov 2015

A Whatsapp message spreading rumours that a national security lockdown will be conducted in Singapore is false, said the Singapore Police Force (SPF).

SPF wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday (Nov 18) morning: "The message, which claims that 'Singapore national security lockdown will be conducted (sic) city wide borders...', is completely false and totally irresponsible."

It advised members of the public not to spread unsubstantiated information which may generate unnecessary public alarm.

The public has been urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious persons or activities.

Home Affairs and Law Minister K. Shanmugam also shared SPF's Facebook post, and warned people to be careful about such messages.
