Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong putting the finishing touches to a traditional Indian decoration at Cheng San Community Club while celebrating the Indian New Year last night with more than 700 residents.
Grassroots leaders and fellow Ang Mo Kio GRC MPs Ang Hin Kee, Inderjit Singh and Seng Han Thong were also present.
Different states in India celebrate new year on different days, so the GRC decided to pick a common day to have a 'good party together', said Mr Lee. He said the celebration would help young Indians understand their roots and give new citizens a chance to bond with locals.
