THE accolades keep flowing in for My Waterway@Punggol, which on Monday bagged its third global award this year.
The Housing Board project won gold in the Project Built category at the 2012 International Awards for Liveable Communities ceremony, held at Al Ain, in Abu Dhabi.
Said Mr Sng Cheng Keh, HDB's deputy chief executive officer for building, in a statement on Tuesday: "Rather than leave this as a functional pipeline linking two reservoirs, our team of planners, engineers and architects have worked hard to create this unique waterfront experience while also preserving the nature and heritage of the area."
The 4.2km-long man- made river, which opened in October last year, meanders through Punggol Eco-Town, one of Singapore's newest HDB estates.
The project took 21/2 years to complete and cost $225 million.
The win follows two awards in which the waterway registered the first wins for any Asian project - the top honour at the International Water Association's (IWA) biennial Project Innovation Awards in August, and the Grand Prize in Environmental Sustainability by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers in April.
My Waterway@Punggol also clinched seven local awards this year.
